THE FIVE ELEMENTS

Fengshui manages five main elements when harmonizing our environment : water, wood

fire, earth and metal. Each one of these five elements move in different way and make the

flow of energy(chi) vary. With the proper organisation and distribution of chi, it can improve

our health, wealth and personal relationships

THE ENERGY

The Chinese word "Chi" is used to describe "the natural energy of the universe". This energy is a vital life force which we cannot see, hear, smell or touch. It is present everywhere and affects every area of our life, be it good or bad. The key concept is when "Chi" is well balance, life will be in harmony but when it is off balance, things in life will fall apart. The art of Fengshui is to balance "Chi" so that it enables us to cope during bad times and excel in the good times

THE EIGHT TRIGRAMS

I-ching, an ancient Chinese classic scripture, was known to be the best of many great scriptures. The 8 major elements of our mother nature :heaven, earth, wind, thunder, water, fire, mountain & swamp, have formulated theories of the environmental nature & principles of life in today's modern world. The fundamentals of yin & yang, comprehensive intelligence of 8 trigrams and the enlightening 64 hexagrams, found in I-ching have been accepted and practiced by many researchers around the world. These wisdoms of I-ching are closely related to our society & way of life, it is also the main foundation of many metaphysics studies

what is feng shui?

The art of Geomancy, also known as Feng Shui in Chinese, is a natural environmental study. It does not relate to any religion, incantation, mythical or superstitious beliefs. It also does not require good luck charms or expensive ornament displays.

Feng Shui is an ancient practice of time & space arrangement to achieve harmony within an environment. It is mainly about placement of furniture & colour blending to enhance tranquility, relationships and to achieve goals in our lives.

_______

A traditional feng shui master only requires a compass or "luopan" to evaluate all types of environments. The evaluation enables the master to tell or foretell the past and future occurrence of anyone residing within the environment without having to know the person’s (Bazi) birth date & time.

A master that provides accurate reading based on bazi information is a well-trained bazi master whereas a well-trained feng shui master is capable of doing the same based on environmental evaluation. And a bazi master may not be necessarily well-versed with Feng Shui knowledge or vice versa except for those who are trained in both.

_______

In general, the term ‘Feng Shui’ refers to a system that evaluates and balances energies within a home or work environment. And well balanced energies will benefit anyone residing or working within the environment. It is a unique system not related to other metaphysics such as bazi, face & palm reading, Chinese naming, auspicious date, ziwei, qimen, tieban, divination & etc.

_______

In recent years, the word ‘Feng Shui’ has been commercially added to products & businesses such as fengshui... altar, desk, eyebrows, fish, haircut, restaurant, jewelry, numbers, paints, plants, umbrella, wallet & so on. I personally find it alright if some companies wanted to boost their business by using the term ‘Feng Shui’, so long as customers are not misled into believing that dining at a fengshui restaurant or using a fengshui umbrella can bring good luck.

Hence, I would like to repeat that Feng Shui is strictly a name of a system that evaluates and balances energies within a home or work environment. Other than this, it has no other meaning.

_______

In view of Feng Shui, it has many different schools. Eight Mansion and Xuan Kong (Flying Star) are the two most popular schools, followed by San He, Liu Fa, Liu Ren, I-Ching fengshui, Four Pillars & etc. Among them, Xuan Kong is probably the most disciplined school whereas Four Pillars Feng Shui is quite remote from fengshui principles. However, let’s not talk about who is right or wrong. Most importantly, the master you wished to engage must be well versed in the related field and able to advise effectively. Also, a good Feng Shui advice should be hassle-free and leaves no trace.
